What is the Dreambox 2.0?
The Dreambox 2 is the answer to your storage, workspace, and crafting needs! It’s an easy way to maximize your storage space and create a craft room, office, or even homework space in your home that flows seamlessly. Whether you have a full room to dedicate to your workspace or just a corner, a Dreambox is THE way to maximize that workspace!
Having a Dreambox is like adding an extra room to your home that folds up into a cabinet when not in use, so it’s perfect for small homes!
(Why does it say “2.0”? This is the new upgraded Dreambox! The Dreambox 1 was such a huge hit and they made some upgrades and released the 2.0! The 1.0 is no longer for sale)
Did you know the Dreambox works great in a corner too?
Not only does everything have a place in the Dreambox 2, but it’s organized in a way that ensures that it’s accessible and easy for all to find. (The new updated table in the Dreambox 2.0 makes accessibility even easier for us short girls and kids too!)
My whole family LOVES being able to open the Dreambox 2 and easily find what they need! I’ve stored everything from paint, to notebook paper, and vinyl in my Dreambox!
The box is sturdy but isn’t difficult to open – making it family-friendly for kids and adults. The fact that it holds up to 650 pounds is insane! (And it proves just how good quality it is!)
While there are many different ways that you can add accessories and customize the Dreambox 2, you can also enjoy using it just like it arrives at your house. It’s one of those purchases that is perfect straight from the box, and accessories can easily be bought and added later.
Dreambox Features
Let’s take a moment to look at what you can expect in a Dreambox!
The Dreambox is basically an armoire with tons of modular storage, lighting, AND a table that’s on wheels.
There are five panels – 2 swing doors, 2 doors, and a middle portion. There is tons of shelving that you can put your own bins in or use the Create Room bins called InView Totes.
Since it’s designed by crafters, nearly every shelf is at least 12” wide so you can fit things like 12×12 cardstock.
There are three sizes of bins, some of which have dividers. There are also areas where you can choose to put a bin or a shelf depending on your need.
It’s super modular so that you can adjust it to you particular need – whether you need the Dreambox for office space, homework, or crafting, there’s a configuration that will work for you! And as your needs change, so can your Dreambox! I’ve literally lost track of how many times I’ve reconfigured mine.
The Dreambox also has some other cool features like hooks for hanging scissors, and rods for holding spools of ribbon or tape.
Imagine stacking boxes full of stuff 6 feet high and 4 feet wide… now imagine having easy access to everything in those boxes without having to move things around. That’s what you get with a Dreambox… and more!
Then of course there’s the pull down table so that you can work within reach of all your supplies. You barely need to get up from your seat – all your stuff is within reach!
The Dreambox also has precut holes for you to run wires through so that you can put things like a computer, monitor, fan, lighting, printer, Cricut and more in your Dreambox!
Now let’s get into some more specifics…
Dreambox 2 Improvements!
Now that you have a better understanding of the Dreambox, let’s touch on some of the newest amazing features!
Not only do these make it easy to use, but they help to keep our craft room functioning so that we can function, too!
Improved Table!
This is probably my favorite upgrade which is why I’m listing it first! The Dreambox table is now legless, wider, and shorter! Since you don’t yet have a Dreambox, this may not seem like a big deal, so let me explain. Thanks to the shorter table, I can now reach everything in my Dreambox more easily and the smaller table isn’t something I notice at all as I craft. The previous Dreambox table was so deep that I couldn’t reach the back or the shelves above it when it was open. (I’d have to reach from the side which I couldn’t do if I had side tables attached)
Also, the table legs always seemed to get in the way and made opening the table much more cumbersome. Now I never bump into the legs (because there aren’t any!) and I can open and close my Dreambox so much faster. Thanks to this, I now keep my Dreambox fully closed when not in use making my room that much more flexible!
The table corners aren’t sharp anymore! I used to bump into the corners a little too often and it hurt. Plus, I have 3 kids and I never wanted them to get hurt either – especially when my youngest was small enough to bump his head into it! Not anymore! The sides of the table now have strips with slots for the side tables to attach to. Those strips on the end have ROUNDED so you can’t get hurt anymore!
Better Hinges!
The new Dreambox 2.0 hinges are so strong. Even my Dad (who helped me attach them) was super impressed with the quality of it!
On top of that, they are much more hidden! You barely notice them when the Dreambox is closed. Before they were definitely visible. I used to worry about them whenever I moved my full Dreambox around but now there’s no issue! These are super great quality!
Note: If you have the Dreambox 1, unfortunately, I don’t think you could retrofit the new hinges on your Dreambox.
So much more modular!
I always loved how modular the Dreambox was. I honestly don’t know how many times I reconfigured my original Dreambox. Being able to move the shelves around, change the swing doors, change how I used the small tote section, switch between tote sizes etc.… it’s amazing.
That said, they took it up a notch. And not just a little one…
Here are some of the additional ways you can move things around in your Dreambox now:
- You can now fit a large computer monitor in your Dreambox! There’s an option to choose the “short” center box which means that your top shelves will be shorter. You’ll get fewer shelves on top but have space for a monitor! (Note that you can switch from the long to the short shelves in the center console at any time – you’ll just need to purchase the parts and rebuilt that part)
- You can now get a Cricut shelf! This is amazing!
- You can add drawers at any time! This used to be a really big decision. Do you want built-in drawers or not? Now you can add or remove them at any time. They also went to 2 drawers instead of three so that they’re more usable rather than just 3 small junk drawers!
- You now have 2 columns under the table instead of just one which makes this space much more usable and easier to organize! I put my sublimation printer there!
- You can now choose which side you want the small totes to go on! I love how they look when the top portion is in one place and the bottom portion is in another!
- The swing door shelf that has hooks is improved too! You can now choose where you want the hooks to go, and you get more hooks too! I like to put mine higher up so my kids can’t reach the sharp things I usually hang off of them. This wasn’t an option before!
Everyone gets a light!
It used to be that you HAD to buy the crown in order to have a light above your table. Not anymore! There is now a light integrated into every Dreambox 2.0! I still absolutely love my Crown Light though and highly recommend it. I love how makes my Dreambox 2.0 look so much more finished and like a real piece of furniture. I also like having the second light. I can now choose which light I want on or have both depending on what I’m doing and where I need the light.
Lots more little improvements that make a big difference!
- New metal pegs for shelves which work better than the tote tracks for shelves!
- If you get the jars, they’re Improved! I love the new style!
- More precut holes for cords! With 5 precut holes, instead of 2, I can have more things like printers in my Dreambox now!
- It’s larger! (Full dimensions can be found here., CLOSED: The Dreambox 2.0 is approximately 3″ wider and 1″ deeper than the previous Dreambox 1.0, OPEN: The Dreambox 2.0 is approximately 2″ wider than the Dreambox 1.0.)
- Swing door shelf guards are now white! These looks much nicer than the clear ones which used to “fog” and get white marks of them over time before.
- Shelve now sit on metal pegs rather than the tote tracks (or plastic pegs if you remember those from years ago). These are even more sturdy and really easy to put in and take out!
- The included shelves are now super chunky. Almost as thick as the Dreambox sides itself. This is much more aesthetic and cleaner looking.
- Supports are now included that attach to the bottom of the Dreambox to help prevent tipping. They look really nice and are functional but honestly, I can’t imagine my Dreambox tipping after it’s been fully stocked!
Overall, these changes really improve the overall look, flexibility, functionality, and stability of the Dreambox!
I love my Dreambox before and always highly recommended it – but now I love it even more and recommend it even more!

Possible Downsides of the Dreambox 2.0 to consider.
Not everyone is going to love ALL the changes… everyone has different needs. So, let’s talk about a few of the Dreambox 2.0 features that could be a downside to some people.
- The table is shorter and very slightly wider. That may or may not be a downside for you if you wanted the really deep table. That said, I’m only 5’3”, so having a shorter table means that I can reach the shelves behind the table more easily! It’s a benefit for me – but not for everyone. I will say that when I’m working at the table, it doesn’t feel any less spacious, so I don’t miss the extra workspace.
- The table no longer has legs. Personally, I like this because I can swivel around and move without bumping on the legs and it’s so much easier to open and close. That said, since it no longer has legs, Create Room recommends using their included straps to attach it to the wall and their supports on the bottom to prevent tipping. If this isn’t something you want to do, and you don’t feel comfortable using the Dreambox 2.0 without the straps, then this might be a disadvantage. If you’re concerned and don’t want to use the straps, using the side tables as additional support, ensuring your heavy stuff is at the bottom and not the top, or keeping it closed when not in use may be alternatives… but I can’t say that for sure so try this at your discretion.
- Slightly bigger, so if you’re especially tight on space, this one is a bit larger. That said, keep in mind that many people don’t fully open theirs! I’ve had my Dreambox in a corner and on and angle, and many others only open their Dreambox part of the way due to space constraints!
My Dreambox 2.0!
I’ve only had my new Dreambox 2.0 briefly, but I’m already in love with the product! As a long the Dreambox owner, first with the Dreambox 1 and now the Dreambox 2, I can really appreciate the upgrades and differences.
Since I’m so happy with what I chose, I want to share with you what I ordered and how I customized and decorated it:
Here is what I bought in my Dreambox 2.0 from Create Room:
- Dreambox 2.0 in white shaker
- Half Tote package (Since I’m also using large bins and 3 paper organizers, I didn’t need the full package)
- Short shelf configuration in the center
- Crown
- Pre-built option! I highly recommend this!
Create Room also sent me…
- 3 Paper organizers
- Tool Cubby
- 2 side tables (though I don’t always have them in)
- 8 Jars (these don’t come with the half tote package)
- 4 narrow shelves (Since I prefer to store things like wood and acrylic standing up in the narrow area of my Dreambox rather than the small totes, I needed extra shelves)
- The cutting mat that I use when the kids are painting or doing art projects that might damage my Dreambox!
I also have 2 Dreamcarts and a Cubby … so I’m clearly a massive fan! (Read about the Create Room Cubby here!)
There are many more accessories too! Check them all out here!
To decorate my Dreambox, I used:
- This cardstock from Hobby Lobby to create tote liners as described in this post
- These 12×12 bins that are perfect for holding big things like blanks!
My Personal Dreambox 2 Experience
A few years ago, I discovered the Dreambox from Create Room. At that time, my craft supplies were basically an afterthought. They were all over the house tucked away wherever I could find space. Of course, that made crafting such an ordeal! I’d have to go all over the house, move everything around, until I found the tub or basket that had the stuff I needed. Naturally it was never all in the same room.
Worse yet, my treasured Cricut Explore Air 2, spent most of its time on the floor in the living room or some other room of the house. In fact, I often used it on the floor too! I didn’t have a dedicated craft space.
During the COVID 19 lockdowns, our family spent all day at home, and we started crafting as a family more and more. We also did “virtual school” at home – so we needed a great storage space and workspace that we could all use together.
That’s when I knew that we needed the Dreambox! Thanks to the side tables, my 3 kids and I would spend hours doing school work or crafts together at the Dreambox and it helped us keep everything nicely organized.
Fast forward to 2023, and I’m still working at my Dreambox every day!
My kids are back at school in person of course, but we still craft fairly often together at the Dreambox. My kids even bring their friends home to craft at the Dreambox with them. It’s quite the hub!
When I learned that a new Dreambox would be announced soon and got an opportunity to place an order because the announcement, I jumped on the opportunity! I’m truly a fan of all the upgrades Create Room made and I know that the Dreambox is going to continue to be an essential for me and my kids!
If you need a way to get more organized, need a dedicated place to work either alone or with your friends or family, and also want the option to tuck it all away when not in use, then there’s really nothing better than the Dreambox!
How much does the Dreambox 2 cost?
The starting price point for the Dreambox 2 is $2599.
That’s definitely an investment and not something everyone can afford!
Luckily for us, Create Room has sales a few times that will help you save tons on your Dreambox, you can save $100 or more right now with my code CREATEMOM, AND you can finance your Dreambox too!
Over the years, I’ve seen many people try to replicate the Dreambox or organize their craft rooms in other ways and so many seem to still come around to buying a Dreambox! Unfortunately, they ended up spending money on a “stop gap” AND spent money on a Dreambox in the end! So before you write off the Dreambox as too expensive, really think through everything it could do for you and estimate what an alternative option would cost. You’ll likely find that a Dreambox is a really great option!
Dreambox 2.0 Delivery
There are two options when it comes to the delivery of the Dreambox 2.0 – Prebuilt or DIY. Both come in a cardboard crate that is incredibly well packed and secure. The cate sits on a wood pallet that people on FB Marketplace will beg your for so it’s really easy to dispose of afterwards.
If you choose the DIY, you’ll get a smaller delivery with your entire DB2 flat packed. Then you’ll need to assemble it all from scratch which can take 5-10 hours or so. If you LOVE to build your own stuff and want to save a few bucks, then this is the choice for you!
If you don’t have 5-10 hours to spare like me, and you’re way too impatient to wait 5-10 hours to start enjoying your Dreambox, then you’ll want to go for the pre-Built option.
If you choose the pre-Built, you’ll get one large crate dropped off at your home. Inside it, there will be five pieces:
- the Center Box
- 2 Side Doors
- 2 Swing Doors
Inside you’ll also have your totes, any screws or additional parts (like shelves) and your crown if you purchased the crown too!
Technically, you will still need two people to stand all the pieces up and move them to their new home before you attach them all. My husband is really strong though and did it himself for me!
Instead of taking up to 10 hours to assemble, this option will cut it down to 1-2 hours of assembly.
You will pay more for this option but don’t forget that sometimes, your time and energy can be priceless!
Once you get all the pieces in the house, the fun begins!
Dreambox 2.0 Options & Setup
While you can easily customize your Dreambox to have as many accessories as you want, there are some key options that come with your purchase of a Dreambox 2.0.
With your purchase, you’ll get:
- Inview totes
- Hooks/rods (for things like ribbon and tape)
- Swing door guards
- Shelves
If you get the full InView Tote set, you’ll also get 8 jars and some extra guards.
These are the standard options, but you can always add more accessories as you feel the need or want to expand.
Decisions, Decisions…
When you get your Dreambox, you’ll need to decide where you want your small InView Totes to go. In the Dreambox 1, you didn’t have a choice. They were all closes to the center box and unmovable. In the Dreambox 2, you get to decide! You can put them all to one side, alternating sides, or have the top on one side and the bottom ones on the other!
If you get the side tables, you’ll want to make sure that at the very least, you put your small totes on the outside edge (on the bottom like I have). Otherwise, you won’t be able to get to them when your side tables are connected! If you don’t have the side tables, you can put them where ever you want!
Best of all, with the Dreambox 2, you can easily change their placement anytime! So, let’s say you get the Side Tables a year from now and need to move them, that’s not an issue!
Final Thoughts
By now, you know that I’m obviously a huge fan, but is it a fit for you?
That all depends!
Do you have a ton of craft, office, and/or school related stuff that you need to organize better?
If you could condense a room full of stuff into something that only takes up the corner of a room, would that have a big impact for you?
Do you need a desk or workspace that’s sturdy enough to feel “permanent” but that’s also foldable and within reach of all your stuff?
Do you need a craft room or office but don’t have a dedicated room available?
Do you have kids, friends or a spouse that you’d like to work next to?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these, then a Dreambox is a great fit for you!
This is the best thing to use in a home office, guest room, and perfect for a craft table and craft room storage. It’s perfect for smaller items and honestly doesn’t take up a ton of wall space.
You can easily use this for Cricut projects, sewing supplies. office supplies, wrapping paper, sewing machine storage, art supplies, storage bins, craft items, and also a dedicated space to help make all your craft room ideas come to fruition. It’s the perfect way to have your own craft room to put in the best place that works best for you.
You don’t have to dedicate an entire room for your crafting area and storage ideas if you don’t want to! With the Dreambox, you can tuck away a whole room full of stuff and workspace into just a corner that’s ready to open up and use in seconds!
The Dreambox 2.0 is perfect for creating your own crafting area full of craft storage solutions that you’ll for sure be using on a regular basis. It’s the perfect size to hold any and all of your craft organization ideas – and it’s a great way to set up a designated space as your work space.
No matter if you want to use this for a simple craft room makeover, or have it be a creative space that doesn’t take up the whole room, this truly is a great option. The next step would be to make the move to having your own vertical storage for all the things!
Plus, with my coupon code, Create Room sales, and their financing options, there are lots of ways to make buying a Dreambox a reality!

Dreambox 2.0 Frequently asked Questions
Is there anything comparable to the Dreambox?
I’d have to say no on this one. A lot of people will claim that IKEA has a similar product, but there is nothing out there quite like the Dreambox. You’re not going to get the functionality of the table, the options to add the side tables, the lighting options, modular shelving and hooks, ability to close up into a beautiful armoire etc.… There’s nothing that I’ve found that has everything the Dreambox has unless it’s custom made. In which case, it would be MUCH more costly than the Dreambox and likely not be as good. The Dreambox has been tested and use by hundreds of people and refined many times to get to the level of quality and functionality of the Dreambox 2.0.
Where is the Dreambox manufactured?
The Dreambox is manufactured in the United States!
What material is the Dreambox made of?
You can rest easy with the 2 year manufacturer’s warranty on the product. It’s made of a Medium Density Fiberboard that is high quality and sturdy!
How much does the Dreambox weigh?
It’s a heavy beast! You can expect it to weigh over 600 pounds total but not to worry – it sits on really sturdy wheels that make it easy to move around, even when full of supplies! It also comes in parts (even as pre-built), so you’re never lifting anything too heavy.
How hard is it to set up a Dreambox 2?
Getting the DIY version is not for the faint of heart. It will require at least 2 people at times and anywhere from 5-10 hours of work.
If you don’t have that kind of time, then I highly recommend the pre-built. This will save you stress, time, and sanity! That’s what I got!
You’ll need to have a good screwdriver and maybe a drill to get the Dreambox 2 set up and ready to go. I had a drill and honestly found using just the screwdriver to be easier!
Is it worth it?
100% yes. Without hesitation, yes. I LOVE my Dreambox 2 so much and can’t imagine my crafting space or office without it. It’s sturdy, keeps my family and me organized, and keeps us all excited to start our projects.
